|
Standing 7-3 and hailing from Yugoslavia, Alek Radojevic has taken an unusual journey to the NBA. Originally slated to play college ball at Ohio State, he instead ended up taking the road less traveled and attended Barton Community College but nevertheless still caught the eye of NBA scouts and was drafted by the Toronto Raptors with the 12th overall selection in the 1999 NBA Draft.
2000-01: Missed the entire season after undergoing back surgery on 10/20 ... Was placed on the injured list by the Raptors on 10/30 ... Traded by Toronto with Kevin Willis, Garth Joseph and a conditional second-round draft choice to Denver for Keon Clak, Tracy Murray and Mamadou N'diaye on 01/12/01.
1999-2000: On the active roster to begin the season and made his first NBA appearance in the opener, 11/2 with the Raptors vs. Boston, playing one minute, but recording no stats ... Placed on injured list after two games due to a tear in the medial meniscus of his left knee ... Underwent back surgery on 1/6 ... Returned for final two games of the season ... Scored his first NBA point on a free throw on 4/18 at Miami ... In season finale at Orlando on 4/19 had six points, eight rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 19 minutes.
