Joe Gust

Joe Gust joined the Detroit Pistons as an intern with the Camps & Clinics department in the summer of 2009. As Manager of the Detroit Pistons Camps/Clinics and Year Round Hoops, Joe assists Coach Steve Moreland with school assemblies and camp operations. Coach Joe also oversees all promotions and public relations with both programs – especially when it comes to answering questions from parents. E-mail Joe at jgust@palacenet.com.

A native to the thumb area of Michigan, Joe graduated from Port Hope Community School and attended Central Michigan University. At CMU, he earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Commercial Recreation and Facility Management along with a minor in Business Management.

Joe was given the opportunity to excel in all facets of sport throughout high school by administrators Michael Bowman, Don Pitts, and Larry Johnson along with varsity basketball coach Matt Woodke who really helped shape his love for the game. Central Michigan professors Roger Coles, Tim Otteman and Lori Irwin were great mentors and helped to take his game to the next level academically.

Family has been the foundation for Joe’s career. His late grandma sparked his initial interest in the Detroit Pistons Youth Training Camp Tour. Mother, Karen, took him to attend Pistons camp for nine consecutive years. Father, Chris, and younger siblings Kylie and Colin continue to support all his events, camps, and sports programs. Family, friends and teachers have helped Joe to progress from young camper, coach, intern and now Manager of the Detroit Pistons Camps & Clinics.
