AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Detroit Pistons announced today that
WDWB-TV WB 20,
WDIV-TV 4 and
FSN Detroit will televise a combined 72 of the team’s 82 regular-season games during the 2004-05 NBA season. The two networks will also combine to air six of the club’s eight preseason games. Including four exclusive ABC telecasts and six Turner Sports exclusive telecasts as part of the NBA’s national television schedule, all 82 regular-season games will be available on television.
“We are excited to announce this year’s television schedule along with our partners WDWB-TV WB 20, WDIV-TV 4 and FSN Detroit,” said Pete Skorich, Senior Vice President of Broadcasting and Multimedia with the Pistons. “With a total of 20 pre-game shows during the year on
WB20 and WDIV, we feel this is one of the most complete television schedules we’ve had and Pistons basketball will be well represented during the 2004-05 NBA season.”
WDWB-TV WB 20 will televise 28 regular-season games this season and three preseason contests. The preseason will give the fans an opportunity to get their first look at Shaquille O’Neal in a Miami HEAT uniform as the Pistons take on the HEAT in Little Rock, Arkansas (October 16). The preseason also features Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves (October 29). The station kicks off its regular-season television schedule with the Pistons’ first road contest against the Toronto Raptors on Friday, November 5 beginning at 7:00 p.m. (EST). Other schedule highlights include one of two NBA Finals re-match games against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers (February 25) and two games against Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers (January 15 and February 16). The Pistons will televise single games with the Central Division Champion Indiana Pacers (March 25), LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers (November 24) and the Miami HEAT (November 26). The network will also broadcast match-ups against dominant big-men Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs (December 3) and Chris Webber and the Sacramento Kings (March 30). WB 20 will feature two hour-long specials, a Detroit Pistons 2004 Training Camp Special on Thursday, October 14 at 7:00 p.m., and a Pistons Pre-Season Preview on Tuesday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m. Stay up late with the Pistons as all WB20 broadcasts will be replayed at midnight and 3:00 a.m. and all WDIV broadcasts will be replayed at 1:00 a.m.
WDIV-TV 4 will televise six selected weekend Pistons match-ups. The network will televise one Friday night match-up with the Central Division Champion Indiana Pacers (November 19) and five Saturday night match-ups - Philadelphia (November 6), at Memphis (December 11), New York (January 29), Washington (February 12) and Boston (March 26). Five of the six games will include a special Pistons Game Night pre-game show.
FSN Detroit will televise 38 regular-season games as well as three preseason contests. The preseason on Fox Sports Net Detroit features the return of Mehmet Okur as Detroit hosts the Utah Jazz at The Palace (October 24). Highlights of their regular-season broadcast schedule include two match-ups against Rick Carlisle and the Central Division Champion Indiana Pacers (December 25 and January 27), three match-ups against former Pistons assistant coach Mike Woodson and the Atlanta Hawks (February 2, March 14 and April 19) and a meeting with Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets (January 26). Also included are two games against playoff rival Milwaukee (November 27 and February 14) as well as games against New Orleans (December 4 and January 12) and Orlando (January 14 and April 13).
