Three games into the season, the Pistons are still looking for their first win. But it won’t be desperation but pragmatism that moves Stan Van Gundy to change his starting lineup.

If he changes his starting lineup, that is.

He wasn’t sure which way he was going to go for Wednesday’s game with the Knicks. In part, that’s because the Knicks haven’t started a consistent lineup yet, but mostly it’s because of Carmelo Anthony and how best to counter his scoring arsenal.

They have 79 games left to turn things around, but so far the Pistons are right where they finished last year in 3-point shooting: 29th in the NBA. And, in fact, the raw numbers are even worse. The 2014-15 Pistons are shooting .219 from the 3-point arc compared to .321 a season ago.
