Teams slated to appear in Vegas this summer include the Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons, Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers.
"The Vegas Summer League is the best run summer league I have experienced in my 30 years as a player and coach in the NBA," said Los Angeles Clippers Head Coach Mike Dunleavy.
This year's format features a 40-game schedule over a nine-day span. NBA TV and Sirius Satellite have signed on to broadcast a select number of TVSL games, with the schedule to be determined.
Toshiba Digital Products Division has signed on as the title sponsor of the summer league. Additionally, Las Vegas Events (LVE) will again assist in hosting the TVSL as they prepare for the upcoming 2007 NBA All-Star Game.
"Toshiba Digital Products Division, providers of cutting-edge notebook PCs and projectors for the mobile digital life, is proud to sponsor the 2006 Vegas Summer League," said Jeff Barney, vice president of marketing for Toshiba's Digital Products Division. "The NBA Summer League players' passion for basketball excellence parallels Toshiba's own passion for quality and innovation."
The Las Vegas community will continue to play a role in the TVSL, with activities planned through the Las Vegas Parks and Recreation Department, YMCA and select youth boys and girls basketball programs.
"Vegas owns basketball in July and this great city will provide a first class experience for our NBA partners and their dedicated fans from throughout the country," said Pat Christensen, President of Las Vegas Events.
"We are thrilled to bring the NBA back to Las Vegas this summer," said TVSL Executive Director, Warren LeGarie. "The response from the last two years has been overwhelmingly positive, and I think that's reflected in the jump we've seen from six teams our first year to 16 now. We have a tremendous lineup of teams confirmed for this summer with affordable ticket prices, which we believe will be very attractive to all NBA fans, especially in the Las Vegas area."
Tickets went on sale April 1, and are available by calling (702) 739-FANS or online at www.unlvtickets.com. More information is available at www.vegassummerleague.com.
