Pistons vs Bulls

Detroit: Maurice Cheeks | Greg Monroe
Chicago: Tom Thibodeau | Kirk Hinrich | Tony Snell

Pistons Head Coach Maurice Cheeks

(On the difference between first and second half shooting): “They obviously were a lot better in the second half than they were in the first half. We couldn’t score the ball and a lot of it had to do with their defense. Their defensive pressure picked up in the third and fourth quarter.”

(On Brandon Jennings tonight): “Maybe their defense picked up a little bit on the pick-and-roll and didn’t allow him much room to operate. He didn’t get as many shots in the second half that we would have liked or he would have liked. Certainly with (Brandon) Jennings and with Will Bynum, we need some scoring, especially coming off the bench as you just talked about. If (Rodney) Stuckey is not scoring, you usually have a different guy. You can have Bynum or you can have Stuckey. And if you’re not getting either from Bynum or Jennings, you’re probably going to have a hard time scoring.”

Pistons Forward Greg Monroe

(On Bulls’ play): “They played hard, played physical; I don’t think that we did a bad job against them. I guess I could have played better, but I think as a group we did a good job. They always play hard; you know what you’re going to get out of those guys every night. I don’t think we did a bad job.”

(On the second half): “I don’t know if they made any big adjustments maybe we kind of changed what we were doing.”

Bulls Head Coach Tom Thibodeau

(On Game): "I thought in the first half they made some shots. I like the way we played offensively in the first half and in the second half, I thought we got our defensive intensity going."

(On playing physical): "They are tough because of that size on the boards so I think we had to adjust in the physicality of the game. When that ball was in the air we have to put bodies on people and then you have to fight for the ball."

(On Joakim Noah and Mike Dunleavy): "There were a lot of guys who did some things. I think Jo (Joakim Noah) had two points and one rebound (in the first) and I thought he was unbelievable in the second half. Mike Dunleavy did the same thing. He was not shooting well, but he found something that could help us win. He had seven rebounds in short minutes."

Bulls Guard Kirk Hinrich

(On game): “I thought we really competed defensively on the boards in the second half. Offensively, we moved the ball and got good looks. We're happy. It's been a very tough road trip for us, we're just happy to get one in the win column. We tried to play to our strengths; push the pace, move the ball, and get easy looks.”

(On Luol Deng): “He was big-time tonight. That's the way he is. He's going to play hard and compete. He enjoys stepping up for us.”

Bulls Guard Tony Snell

(On starting tonight): “I had to stay ready. When I heard I was going to be in the starting lineup, I was going to try to do the best I could. I just had to play my game, not rush anything, and stay patient. All the hours I put in and the hard work in the gym paid off.”

(On game): “We were a little sloppy in the first half. We weren't letting the game come to us. In the second half, we executed, made our cuts, and made the game easy for us. We know what we have to do with Derrick (Rose) being out. Taj (Gibson) had a huge game tonight and Luol (Deng) made shots all night.”
