Postgame Quotes - November 23, 2015

Head Coach Stan Van Gundy

(On the Bucks’ length…)

“I think their length helps them more on the defensive end. But, it helped them on the offensive boards, too, a little bit. Look, we didn’t match up to their intensity and energy. When one team has a decided advantage in that area, it’s going to be a long night. They had a huge advantage in that area.”

 (On the team’s energy level…)

“Well, that contributed. Look, we did not have any energy. I don’t know, I’m really disappointed and worried about where we are right now. Through the first six or seven games, I thought we competed hard on a consistent basis. Since then, I think we’ve competed on a sporadic basis in games. We’ve had stretches, and we bring ourselves back into the game. But, it has not been as consistent and then tonight we had no stretches where we competed. So, that obviously has to change. It’s got to get back to where it was early in the year or it will continue to be like this.”

(On the message to the team after the loss…)

“It doesn’t get easier. If you play like that, you deserve to get blown out and if we play like that again Wednesday, Friday, Sunday, Monday we will get blown out in all of those [games].”

 Guard Reggie Jackson

(On tonight’s performance…)

“We came out and got spanked. They definitely came out the better team from start to finish. With the way they competed versus the way we competed offensively, they definitely earned that win.”

(On the Bucks bouncing back tonight…)

“They were definitely hungry for a win. They came out that way. Hats off to them. They competed to the best of their ability and we didn’t tonight.”

 Forward/Guard Darrun Hilliard

(On making his NBA debut tonight…)

“It’s just another game. The dreams that come with having your first point and all that other stuff, you just try to narrow it down and stay humble. You go out there and play. It’s another game.”

(On the 13-game wait leading up to tonight…)

“I’m always ready. You’re always ready to play. You’re always ready to go out there and help the team. I knew that whenever I was called that I would be ready. If coach didn’t tell me [before the game] that I was playing and put me in, I would be ready. I think that’s just my path and I’ve got to go with it.”

Head Coach Jason Kidd

(On the Bucks’ win…)

“It’s good to see guys respond after the day off. This morning’s shootaround was a little bit longer than normal. The guys, you give them the credit, they responded. I think we all knew that we didn’t play well on the trip and we didn’t end the trip on the right note. Those guys in that locker room get a lot of credit.”

 (On Michael Carter-Williams...)

“For the Indiana game, we take out the positives. He set the pace. I thought he did another great job [tonight]. We talk about pace but also defensively I thought he did a really good job in keeping the ball in front and taking some tough shots to make some tough shots. You give a lot of credit to Michael, again, setting the tone on both sides of the ball.”

 (On protecting the ball tonight…)

“We would love to bottle that up, taking care of the ball. The ball was moving. There was not just one pass and then one shot. We had guys driving, the ball touching the paint and good things happened. Again, we’re not a team that’s going to shoot a lot of threes and it just showed tonight that you can still score 100 points when you don’t shoot a lot of threes. That’s by getting the ball in the paint and converting, and also getting to the free throw line.”

 Guard Jerryd Bayless

(On how the Bucks remained in control throughout the game…)

“[We remained in control] by just trying to play, and play hard. They are a pretty good team, so we just kept on playing. When we do that it makes it tough on them.”

(On the key to a balanced scoring attack…)

“Moving the ball [is the key]. I think everybody took good shots and when we do that, we get good opportunities. We were pretty good with that, so hopefully it continues.”

Guard Michael Carter-Williams

(On how he plays the fast break…)

“First, I’m looking for open teammates. If they aren’t open, I’m looking to attack and get in the paint. If the defense helps, I can always pull it out.”

(On playing well in the third quarter…)

“We made it a point to play really well in the third quarter. A couple of games we had collapses in the third [quarter], so we just wanted to stay with it and really put the pressure on them. We kept pushing to build our lead.”
