Postgame Quotes - March 31, 2014

Milwaukee: Larry Drew | Tony Wroten

(On Greg Monroe): “Greg (Monroe) usually has a pretty good match up at the four spot. From step one, Greg’s been a very consistent player for us the whole year. You know what you’re going to get out of him every day in practice and in games. We try to get him the ball a little bit more at the elbow area, to give him some space. He didn’t settle for jump shots tonight. He really attacked. I thought Greg was fabulous when we needed a basket, that’s what you have to have to do down the stretch to win a basketball game, someone to throw it to and Greg really came up big. I thought he was super.”

(On the guards): “We made some big shots, but I’ll give Will (Bynum) and Brandon (Jennings) credit. Those two guys got it in the lane and were so unselfish the whole night. Will was unselfish in the first half, moved the ball, we just didn’t make some shots. But Will and Brandon together, they really wanted to win this game. They got it in the lane, found Josh (Smith) for jumpers, got it to Greg (Monroe) in certain spots, and were very, very good.”

(On the second half): “We were just talking about getting stops, keep chipping away, keep communicating with each other and keep sharing the basketball. That’s what we did when we came out.”

(On second half changes): “We had to have a better floor balance. We limited them to one shot and I think we took care of the ball in that second half.”

(On winning): “Getting a win tonight feels good. Everybody’s happy in the locker room but we have the rest of the season to finish out; continue to play hard and try to win some more games.”

(On playing from behind): “We get down, no team likes getting down throughout the game, but we have to find ways to come back down the stretch of the game and sometimes we don’t pull it out, which is tough. Nobody likes to play down so we have to figure out ways to get at the teams early.”

(On difference in the first and second halves): "As far as the biggest factor we just stopped doing the things that we did for three-and-a-half quarters. We just talked about that and hopefully at some point it will click in to where we will continue and be able to sustain what we do. I thought we played some solid basketball and did some pretty good things."

(On shot selection): "When you are on the road and you talk about shot selection and you do not get the shot that you want it is just as good as a turnover. We took some tough shots. We rushed a lot of quick shots around the basket and missed a lot of easy ones."

(On Josh Smith): "He (Josh Smith) started making shots. I thought we did a good job from a game strategy standpoint. We did what we were supposed to do. He just started making shots."

(On first half): "We were getting stops and we were pushing the ball. That's what it really came down to, especially in that second half when we didn't get stops. We didn't push the ball like we did in the second quarter."

(On second half): "We just didn't come out with the same energy. Late in the game we didn't come up with the stops when we needed to."

(On Pistons frontline): "They're tough on the boards; they've got some big bodies. Dre (Andre Drummond) is an athlete and Greg (Monroe) is a very skilled player who knows what he's doing down low."
