Postgame Quotes - January 17, 2015

DETROIT PISTONS HEAD COACH STAN VAN GUNDY:  (On the win): “We got off to a great start. I think our guys took a lot of pride to come out and be ready to play. They went after it hard defending and getting out and running early on. Great start.”

(On maintaining lead): “We should be able to do it. We haven’t been there that often. We’ve come back a lot of times and that’s something as you get better, you have to learn. I did not like our third quarter until the very end when we got those five quick points and Kyle (Singler) hit the three. We really weren’t defending, but overall a very good night.”

(On Kyle Singler’s performance): “He was on fire. He was great. He’s been shooting the ball well lately. I have a lot of confidence in him and he’s playing really well.”

(On 11-and-2 stretch): “We’re playing pretty well. We’re still searching for consistency and we’ve got to get better defensively. What I’ve been impressed with is that was eight games in 12 days. That’s a really difficult stretch. It’s a long stretch and our guys have hung in there. It’s been a rough stretch, but they’ve hung in well so I’ve been really happy with them overall.”

DETROIT PISTONS FORWARD GREG MONROE:  (On team’s energy level tonight vs. Sixers): “We definitely came out, and from the beginning of the game we played with great energy.  The ball was moving and guys were hot from behind the arc early.  We just have to continue to come out with that effort.”

(On Jodie Meeks, Anthony Tolliver, Kyle Singler tonight vs. Sixers): “Those guys always play well.  Tonight they were knocking down everything.  Kyle (Singler) definitely had a good rhythm tonight.  Every night it can be someone different for us.  We just want to come out and play with good energy; someone’s probably going to have a good night.”

DETROIT PISTONS GUARD BRANDON JENNINGS:  (On transition points tonight vs. Sixers): “Our start to the game was excellent.  We came out with a lot of energy, were aggressive and we were able to get the lead early.”

(On Kyle Singler’s game vs. Sixers): “Really big.  Any night it can be somebody’s night.  Tonight it was Kyle’s (Singler) night, and he had it going.  I was able to get some rest tonight.”

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS HEAD COACH BRETT BROWN:  (On tonight's loss): "I just think the mindset coming into the game - not having the focus - you know on defensive assignments - you miss a beat, you're a second late, the league is unforgiving and I think there were 25 possessions where we're sitting there on the bench whether it be offensive or defensive possessions - you know you want them back. You want young guys being able to learn from this. To back up a good win at home and to win two in a row on the road - it's hard. It's hard winning in the NBA and we just didn't have the ability to do it tonight."

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS GUARD MICHAEL CARTER-WILLIAMS: (On tonight's loss): “We had to battle back. I think we cut it to 10 and they went on a run. They were ahead most of the game. We had a lot of wasted possessions and playing a team like that you can't have wasted possessions. You have to come up with something.”

(On Piston's playing better basketball): "I think they're just more comfortable with the guys they have. They're getting a better feel for each other. Their bigs are moving better and they're not just sitting on the block. They're coming up and setting screens. They're active on defense. Stan does a great job with those guys. They're well coached. They do a lot of good things out there."
