DETROIT PISTONS HEAD COACH STAN VAN GUNDY: (On the loss): “The second half was terrible. That’s the second game in a row where our starters have come out of the locker room at halftime and not been any good. Tonight we didn’t even try defensively. At the start of the third quarter they were back in it quickly…Just a real poor defensive effort to start that quarter.”
(On Lou Amundson and Shane Larkin): “I thought the real difference was (Lou) Amundson and Shane Larkin. I thought Shane Larkin did an outstanding defensive job. I thought he made good decisions and his energy was great. I thought those two guys were big keys. We gave Amundson nine offensive rebounds and some real key one’s down the stretch.”
DETROIT PISTONS GUARD JODIE MEEKS: (On losing lead): Just don’t get too ahead of ourselves. For whatever reason we didn’t play very well in the third quarter, but we can’t do anything about it now. We just have to get ready for tomorrow.
(On Knicks): “They played well tonight. (Lou) Amundson was very active on the boards. We needed to make plays down the stretch. The Knicks did that, so you have to give credit to them.”
(On playing more inside-out): “We have to do a better job of communicating. The big guys got a lot of touches tonight so we have to do a better job of playing inside-out and have confidence in each other. I think we do as a whole, it’s just one game.”
NEW YORK KNICKS HEAD COACH DEREK FISHER: (On tonight's win vs. Pistons): "I think it just shows the character we have in the locker room. It obviously hasn't been easy this season but high character guys and guys that are high integrity. No matter what happened the night before, they're coming back with the right effort and playing with the right mindset. That's the only way you can win a game like tonight. As coaches we're happy for our players more than anything because they need some positive feedback from the effort they put in."
(On Andrea Bargnani's play vs. Pistons): "He's continuing to shake the rust off. He was aggressive and confident right from the beginning and I think we all know he has this potential to do this. I think he's just excited and looking forward to continuing to be healthy and continuing to try and do this, not necessarily statistically, but just having a presence for his team every night."
NEW YORK KNICKS GUARD SHANE LARKIN: (On tonight's game vs. Pistons): "I felt good out there. I didn't feel as tired as I thought I was going to feel, my legs felt good. I'm just glad we went out there and pulled out the win."
(On Langston Galloway's 3-pointer to tie the game): "That was a huge shot; over two dudes in transition, a stop and pop, that really energized us I think for overtime. The way he hit that shot, the difficulty of it, and for him to have that confidence to shoot that shot really shows what kind of guy he is. We're happy he made it because it gave us an opportunity to win the game."
NEW YORK KNICKS GUARD LANGSTON GALLOWAY: (On his game tying 3-pointer): "First, I'm blessed to make that shot. I give all the credit to God. I got the rebound, saw the clock was running down and I was like it was me and only two other defenders. I just pulled up and it went in."
(On shooting the three instead of going for a quick 2): "I knew two defenders were back, I'd have a tough time getting to the basket. So I pulled up and was confident in taking the shot, and it went in.”
