Postgame Quotes - February 22, 2015

DETROIT PISTONS HEAD COACH STAN VAN GUNDY: (On Reggie Jackson): “He (Jackson) had a tough first half. He was so hyped up. When we first took him out he was throwing up on the sideline. He had so much nervous energy, but then in the second half he looked like the guy we traded for. He was attacking the basket, using his athleticism and making plays. I was really happy with him.”

(On the win): “I thought our big guys Andre (Drummond) and Greg (Monroe) were much better in the second half. I thought both of them were outstanding today. We had good play out of a lot of guys today. KCP (Kentavious Caldwell-Pope) was tremendous. I thought Cartier (Martin) and Spencer (Dinwiddie) were good off the bench. You have to have a lot of guys play well to beat a team like that.”

DETROIT PISTONS FORWARD TAYSHAUN PRINCE:  (On this Piston team): “Definitely new faces.  Obviously by watching the game tonight, I watched the game against Chicago, both games were similar in the sense of coming out in the second half strong.  We hit some threes and got the crowd into the game but the most important thing is our defense was great in the second half.  They picked up their energy, so the thing to me is, come in and when I’m on the floor or off the floor I’m going to be the veteran I’ve been everywhere I’ve been.  More importantly, do what I do.  I’ve had conversations with Stan (Van Gundy) about what his plans are and we’ll see.  First few games he’ll probably put me in slowly.”

(On his return to Detroit): “It was a shock, obviously.  The most important thing is I can still play this game.  No matter where you play, as long as I’m in a uniform and I can play it doesn’t matter where I play.  I think what a good thing is the fact that I’m back in familiar stomping grounds.  Even though I’ve played with a couple guys on this team, as you know, I can pick up things real fast.  Whether I haven’t played with (Kentavious) Caldwell-Pope, Reggie Jackson, (Spencer) Dinwiddie, all those other guys, believe it or not, just like how I picked it up in Boston right away I’ll do the same thing.”

DETROIT PISTONS GUARD REGGIE JACKSON:  (On his emotions to start the game tonight vs. Wizards): “I was a little too hype as well.  Sinuses, I have a problem where I have to take allergy pills.  Really, just have to make sure I stay on top of my things.  Hopefully I don’t have any problems like that to start again.”

(On his conversation with Pistons owner Tom Gores): “He welcomed me to the city.  He let me know that he believed in me, he really believed in my ability, and as well believed in me as a person.  It was great to meet him and his friends that he also brought.  Having my teammates and my coaches and the owner behind me start to make things a little easier in the second half.”

WASHINGTON WIZARDS HEAD COACH RANDY WITTMAN:  (On tonight's loss versus Pistons): “We played the last couple of minutes of quarters like it's a pick-up game.”

“We scored 52 points in the first half and 37 in the second. We got outscored by 21 points from the 3-point line and 10 points from the foul line. We don't have guys that will put the ball on the floor and attack the rim, get cheap fouls and get to the free-throw line. We continually took contested shots. That hurt us. It's the little things. It's that snowball effect. It's the little things that add up to big things. They continue to get bigger and bigger as we speak."

WASHINGTON WIZARDS GUARD GARRETT TEMPLE: (On tonight's loss versus Pistons): "For whatever reason we stopped focusing. We kind of got a little comfortable. We took a few bad shots that led to them getting some easy points. We have to find a better way to end quarters. We've got to figure out a way to end this slide."
