Detroit Pistons to Host Free Open Scrimmage on Sunday, December 18
“The open practice is a great event where our fans can come out to The Palace and get a preview of this year’s team,” said Joe Dumars, Pistons President of Basketball Operations. “Our players and coaching staff have been working hard to get ready for the upcoming season and we look forward to getting started.”
Pistons players, including last season’s All-Rookie Team member Greg Monroe and this year’s first round draft pick Brandon Knight, will practice and scrimmage on the court beginning at 12:00 p.m. Coca-Cola has teamed with the Pistons and will provide a free soft drink and hot dog to fans in attendance while supplies last. Pistons head coach Lawrence Frank will be on the microphone to welcome the crowd and interact with fans prior to the scrimmage.
In addition to the scrimmage, the Pistons have partnered with the US Marine Corps to hold a ‘Toys For Tots’ collection during the event. Fans can bring a new, unwrapped toy which will be distributed by the U.S. Marine Corps to needy children in the Southeastern Michigan area this holiday season. Monetary donations also will be accepted.
Members of the U.S. Marine Corps will be stationed throughout the West Atrium to collect items and monetary donations.
