The Pistons finished the month of November 12-6. Detroit got off to a 5-1 start before heading out west for a four-game road trip. Their only loss was to the Pacers on opening night (10/29), marking the return of former head coach Rick Carlisle, who now heads the troops in Indiana.

Detroit went 1-3 out west after suffering losses at Sacramento (11/11), Golden State (11/12) and LA Lakers (11/14). They finished the trip on a positive note, winning the final game at Phoenix (11/15).

While out west, Detroit suffered its first loss in overtime at Golden State on November 12. That marked the Pistons’ first loss in overtime since April 17, 2001, a 94-92 decision at Toronto.

Detroit returned to The Palace to exact revenge on the Lakers, winning 106-96 in front of a sellout crowd on November 18.

Detroit lost to Central Division foe New Orleans on November 23 as Baron Davis’ dunk with 1.3 seconds on the clock gave the Hornets an 81-80 win at The Palace.

Larry Brown returned to take on his old ball club in Philadelphia on November 26 and Detroit fell in another close one, 90-86.

Out of Detroit’s six losses, the largest margin of defeat was six points at Sacramento on November 11. Detroit was 0-4 in games decided by three points or less throughout the month.

Chauncey Billups led Detroit with averages of 20.4 points and 5.9 assists per game and was named NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the week ending 11/23 after averaging 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 1.50 steals per game.

In LeBron James’ first regular-season game at The Palace on November 28, it was Richard Hamilton who stole the show. Hamilton finished with a career-high 44 points on 15-of-23 shooting and James was held to a career-low six points in Detroit’s 92-88 win. “Rip” Hamilton ended the month of November on fire, averaging 25.3 points on .667 shooting (40-60 FG) from the field in his last four games.

Ben Wallace averaged 9.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 2.18 steals and 3.35 blocks through his first 17 games. Detroit was 6-4 on the road, third best in the NBA during October/November, and 6-2 at The Palace.
