Pistons players, including Richard Hamilton, Rasheed Wallace, Antonio McDyess and Jason Maxiell, Hooper, the Automotion dance team and staff from the front office will be stationed at the pumps to service the fans during the event.
“With the heightened focus on economy and the fact that all metro Detroiters are feeling a pinch at the pump, we, along with our good friends at Meijer thought this would be a great opportunity to help some Pistons fans AND get them ready for the upcoming season,” said Pistons CEO Tom Wilson.
The “Paint The Town” promotion is being done to raise awareness for the start of the 2008-09 season and highlight Opening Week that begins with the first game of the season vs. Indiana on October 29 (8:00 p.m.) at The Palace of Auburn Hills and “Kids Opening Night” set for November 1 vs. Washington (7:30 p.m.).
“We are always pleased to help our customers save money,” said Scott Seling, Group Vice President of Meijer’s East region. “Of course, free gasoline pumped by the Pistons takes the excitement to an entirely new level, and we are thrilled to partner with the Pistons organization for such a great event.”
