The Hunt for Lindsey Hunter
by Brian Hilger

Punxsutawney Phil didn’t get to see his shadow on Friday morning. But 10 Pistons fans got to see Lindsey Hunter’s shadow…in fact they got to meet the man himself.

And it as all because they were lucky enough to find a limited edition, silver Lindsey Hunter mini-bobblehead amongst the 10,000 that were given away when the Pistons hosted the Milwaukee Bucks.

“I could hardly believe I had won this,” said 11 year-old David Elzinga of Dewitt. “I had to keep opening it during the game to make sure it was real.”

After the Pistons beat the Bucks 96-86, the fans were escorted to the post-game conference room where they awaited for Lindsey to finish his post game rituals.

“This was my fourth Pistons game I have been to,” said David Hatchett, 9, of Pontiac. “I had hoped that I would receive a silver bobblehead and I was very excited to meet Lindsey Hunter once I saw that I had one.”

Not too much later, just like Punxsutawney Phil emerging from his home earlier in the day, Lindsey entered the dressing room and was warmly greeted by the group.

Hunter signed shirts and bobblehead boxes, posed for pictures and signed more autographs on the hood of the Chevy Silverado that his min-bobblehead was riding in. After taking care of everyone, the 6’2” guard who has won two NBA championships, was off to prepare for the Pistons Super Bowl Sunday game in Cleveland against LeBron James and the Cavs.

“This is my first bobblehead,” nine-year old Jaida Cistrunk of Detroit said. “I think my mother was more excited to learn that we would be able to meet Lindsey than I was.”

Friday was the sixth Friday Night Bobblehead Giveaway for the Pistons. The next, and final regular season Bobblehead Friday is scheduled for March 30 when the Pistons play host to Jason Kidd and the New Jersey Nets. The March 30 giveaway will feature Piston all-star guard Richard Hamilton wearing his signature “mask.”
