Award-winning journalist Keith Langlois joined Pistons.com as web site editor.
|
The bottom line: It will be more user friendly and supply more information for Pistons fans who have come to rely on Pistons.com as their source of information for their favorite team.
The blog written by Keith Langlois, Pistons.com editor, will still be found in its usual spot on the Web site. In fact, it will now be a permanent fixture among the five featured stories of the day – one of the five secondary photos that accompany the primary photo on the left side of Pistons.com’s home page.
“The new format will allow Keith to post with greater immediacy and frequency, several times a day, as news warrants,” said Dave Wieme, director of strategic communication for Palace Sports & Entertainment. “We know Pistons fans will go the extra mile to find out as much information as they can, but when they come to Pistons.com they’re going to get Pistons news – they’re not going to have to fight through all the news traffic out there on other sites that cover all teams and all sports.”
The new blog, accessed at Pistons.com, will have the Web address truebluepistons.blogspot.com. Users will be able to return immediately to Pistons.com by clicking on a button provided at the end of each blog posting.
“I’ve been looking for a vehicle that would allow me to get information out more often and in a more timely manner,” said Langlois, who took over as Pistons.com editor before the 2006-07 season after covering the team for 20 years – starting just as the Bad Boys were in their ascendancy – as the sports editor and lead sports columnist at The Oakland Press. “We think we’ve found the perfect way to do it. For instance, I can post an hour or so before tipoff what the active roster is that night, or whether an injured player is ready to return.
“I’ll be able to get quick blurbs out when a trade or something of similar impact comes down – ‘The Pistons just picked up Juan Dixon at the trade deadline; check back in an hour when I find out all the details’ – but I can also alert basketball fans about other aspects of the organization, like special ticket offers or Automotion appearances or summer youth camps that direct them to the spot on Pistons.com where they can find out more about the things of special interest to them.”
The popular Mailbag feature, where Langlois fields questions and comments from Pistons fans and answers them every Monday and Thursday, will still be found in its usual spot on Pistons.com. Comments on the new blog posts can be submitted to Keith via the Pistons Mailbag.
