Detroit Pistons Host Kids’ Night, Sponsored by Sprite Saturday, January 17 vs. the New Orleans Hornets

The Detroit Pistons are hosting the team’s annual Kids’ Night, sponsored by Sprite, on Saturday, January 17 when they take on the New Orleans Hornets at 7:30 p.m. at The Palace. Kids will get the opportunity for a “behind-the-scenes” look at what it takes to put on an NBA game. The team is also looking for special youngsters to portray the starting five as well as a public address announcer.

The Pistons will also be looking for kids who reflect the heart (and faces) of the starting five. If selected, these kids will take the places of the players and run out onto the floor for introductions. To make the “starting five,” kids must submit a photo with their “application.”

A special contest will be held for one winner between the ages of eight and 14 to announce the Pistons’ “starting line-up.” All kids interested in this special contest should submit their one-minute or less long video performing Pistons’ intros to kidsnight@palacenet.com.

One entry per person, for all positions, must be postmarked or emailed by Wednesday, January 7, 2009. All selected candidates will be notified of their “job status” by Friday, January 9, 2009.

Kids’ Night participants are assigned a full-time PS&E staff “supervisor.” Kids “job positions” include media assistants, public address announcer, radio announcer, television broadcast aides, guest services hosts, box office ticket representatives, Fan Foto staffers, concessions vendors, mascot assistants, Automotion assistants and court custodians. Most “shifts” start at 6 p.m. and run through the first quarter.

As a “salary,” each kid will be given a ticket to the game, dinner and a commemorative Kid’s Night work shirt.
