Amir Johnson Named D-League Performer of the Week

Amir Johnson of the Sioux Falls Skyforce/Detroit Pistons is the D-League Performer of the Week for March 5, 2007. He is the second NBA-assigned player to be named Performer of the Week during the 2006-07 season. Johnson was assigned to Sioux Falls on Monday for the second time this season and led the Skyforce to a 3-1 record in his first four games.

The second year pro started his second D-League stint of the season on Tuesday with 32 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks in a win over Fort Worth. The 6-9 forward posted two more double-doubles during the week, scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Bakersfield and totaling 20 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks in Sunday's loss to Colorado.

In the week's four games, Johnson averaged 19.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks while shooting .651 (28-of-43) from the field.

Johnson was selected by the Pistons in the second round (56th overall) in the 2005 Draft. He has appeared in four NBA games this season. In ten games with the Skyforce over two assignments, he is averaging 18.4 points and 8.4 rebounds.
