George David Promoted To Assistant General Manager
“We are pleased to announce the promotion of George David to Assistant General Manager,” said Joe Dumars, President of Basketball Operations. “George has played a significant role for our basketball operations team in coordinating our draft preparation, scouting, free agent analysis and administration. He will do a great job in his new position.”
David, who enters his 15th season with the Pistons, will direct the day-to-day operations of the basketball department, handling player personnel issues, assisting in roster development and coordinating league and company-wide administrative duties.
The Farmington Hills native has served as the club’s Director of Player Personnel since 2007 after being promoted from Director of Scouting in August of 2002. David joined the organization during the 1996-97 season, serving as video coordinator for former head coach Doug Collins.
Playing a key role in draft preparation over the last 10 years, David has assisted Dumars and the basketball staff with its selections of Tayshaun Prince, Jason Maxiell, Amir Johnson, Rodney Stuckey, Arron Afflalo, Austin Daye, Jonas Jerebko, Greg Monroe, Brandon Knight, Kyle Singler and 2012 selections Andre Drummond, Khris Middleton and Kim English.
Graduating from Indiana University in 1996, David served as a student assistant under legendary coach Bob Knight from 1992-1996.
