With the 2004 NBA Playoffs in full swing, Pistons.com wanted to know which Pistons player the fans think should win the major regular-season awards. Some competitions were close, others were won by a landslide.

Chauncey Billups was the Pistons’ go-to-guy during the 2003-04 season, leading the team in assists and ranking second in points per game. Billups also led the team in three point shots, of which he made a career high seven in the Pistons 115-102 win over Dallas on January 11th.

Rip Hamilton led the Pistons in points and, despite missing nearly two weeks in early March due to a broken nose, Rip recorded the team-high points in 31 games this season.

While Ben Wallace led the Pistons with 12.5 rebounds per game, he ranked second in the league in rebounds, blocks, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds and blocks. Referred to as the “hardest worker” in the league, Wallace’s presence on the court intimidates even his bigger opponents.

A double-threat on offense and defense, Rasheed Wallace elevated the Pistons' play since his arrival on February 19th, leading the team to a 20-6 record to close out the season. Since joining the squad, Wallace put up five double-doubles and helped Ben Wallace create an impenetrable defense.

A veteran player with quick hands, Hunter had a season high six steals against Seattle on March 7th. What Hunter does on the court doesn't always show in the statistics.

Two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Ben Wallace is the best rebounder to wear a Pistons jersey since Dennis Rodman. Wallace became the first player to record at least 1,000 rebounds, 100 steals and 100 blocks in the same season four times and all in consecutive seasons. He finished the season with 1,006 rebounds, 142 steals and 246 blocks in 81 games.

The other half of “X2,” Rasheed Wallace’s contribution to the Pistons' defense cannot be denied. Averaging 2.05 blocks per game since the February trade, Wallace pulled out all the stops against the Jazz on March 1st, racking up four rejections, six rebounds and 27 points.

With a season average 16.9 points per game, Billups put up a season-high 33 points against Memphis in November. He has also dished out 12 assists twice this season while averaging 5.7 per game. Billups ranked 7th in the league with a .878 percentage from the charity stripe.

Richard Hamilton led the Pistons with 17.8 points per game and held a field goal percentage of .455. Rip recorded six new career-highs this season, including a 44-point game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 28th and a 12-assist game against the Washington Wizards on April 9th.

A got-to-guy for the alley-oops, Prince seems to find his way under the basket no matter who stands in his way. While he averaged 10.3 points per game for the season, Prince posted a career-high 25 points against Orlando on April 10th and scored another 21 against the Raptors on April 13th. Prince also ranked second on the team in field goal percentage with .467.

Pistons Forward / Center Mehmet Okur
There’s no disputing Okur’s influence on the court this season compared to last. His points per game jumped from 6.9 to 9.6, and has started in 33 games compared to last season's 9. Okur also set nine career-highs this season including an impressive 27-point and 14-rebound game against Toronto on January 30th.

In 2003-04, Prince doubled his stats in almost every category, with the biggest jumps in points per game (10.1 compared to 3.3), rebounds per game (4.8 compared to 1.1) and minutes per game (32.9 compared to 10.4).

A veteran with 14 years in the league under his belt, Elden Campbell played in his 1,000 NBA game on April 4th. Looked to for his professionalism and knowledge of the game, Campbell averaged 5.6 points and 3.2 rebounds a game off the bench.

Mike James was a powerhouse off the bench since arriving in Detroit as part of the three-team trade on February 19th. In an explosive performance against the Wizards on April 12th, James recorded 21 points with 5 treys and eight assists, pulling the Pistons out of a 7-point deficit and putting them ahead by as many as 22.

As a sixth man, Corliss Williamson ranked ninth in the league with a .505 field-goal percentage, making 144 of 197 shots. Averaging 9.5 points a game, Williamson netted his season-high 20 points two times, and grabbed a season-high 10 boards against Portland on December 31st.

Pistons Forward Darvin Ham
Over the season, Darvin Ham has contributed much of his time to the NBA's Read to Achieve program. On November 20th, Ham and his mother, Mayor Wilmer Ham, distributed ham and turkey food baskets to 60 pre-selected families from local community organizations for Thanksgiving.
