Detroit Pistons Scheduled to Tip Off 2014-15 NBA Season on October 29

Pistons 10-Game Plans and Individual Tickets Are On-Sale Friday, August 15 At 8:00 AM

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons will begin the 2014-15 season on Wednesday, October 29 with two road games at Denver (9:00 p.m. ET) and at Minnesota on October 30 (8:00 p.m. ET). This year’s squad, under the leadership of new Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations Stan Van Gundy, will host Kevin Garnett, Joe Johnson, Deron Williams, Brook Lopez and the Brooklyn Nets in the home opener on Saturday, November 1 (7:30 p.m.) at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Highlights of the Pistons’ home schedule include two appearances by LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and the Central Division rival Cleveland Cavaliers (January 27 and February 24) and two match-ups with the new-look Miami HEAT featuring Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Luol Deng (February 3 and April 4). NBA All-Stars Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and the L.A. Clippers visit November 26, Kobe Bryant and the L.A. Lakers visit December 2, and reigning NBA MVP Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder visit The Palace on December 7. Other intriguing contests include two match-ups with Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and the Chicago Bulls (February 20 and March 21) while Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and the NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs make their lone appearance at The Palace on February 11. Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks visit November 5 and February 27, Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks take the floor on December 17 while Dwight Howard, James Harden and the Houston Rockets will visit on January 31.

Popular theme nights will return including “Friday Night Out,” where fans can kick-start the weekend with great entertainment featuring the “Detroit Pistons Concert Series” with highly acclaimed national recording artists performing at halftimes, “Super Saturdays,” focused on experiences for the entire family and “Motor City Sundays,” a celebration of all things Detroit. Selected Saturday and Sunday games will feature give-a-ways for the first 5,000 youngsters 14-and-under. “Hometown Hero Monday” will salute our local members of the military, veterans, first responders and community leaders, “Twosdays” will once again provide fans special deals and extra value on concessions and merchandise while “Wired Wednesdays” will take fans behind the scenes with inside access to audio and video from players, coaches and entertainment teams.

“Power Hour,” beginning 90 minutes prior to each game in the North Pavilion, will return this season offering fans merchandise and food and beverage specials along with special appearances from players, legends, broadcasters and Pistons entertainment teams. Also, a free Pistons Action Guide game program will supply fans with game information, a collectable Pistons’ player poster, special merchandise and food and beverage discounts as well as the opportunity to win team memorabilia each quarter.

Detroit will embark on its first of two season-high four-game road trips starting in Chicago (November 10), Washington (November 12), Oklahoma City (November 14) and Memphis (November 15). A four-game home stand starts with the L.A. Clippers (November 26), Milwaukee (November 28), Golden State (November 30) and L.A. Lakers (December 2). A season-high, five-game home stand comes in February with San Antonio (February 11), Chicago (February 20), Washington (February 22), Cleveland (February 24) and New York (February 27). The Pistons will take their second four-game road trip of the season starting with the L.A. Lakers (March 10), Golden State (March 11), Portland (March 13) and Utah (March 14). A late-season, four-game home stand will feature Miami (April 4), Boston (April 8), Indiana (April 10) and Charlotte (April 12).

Detroit will make three national television appearances with two games on ESPN and one game on NBA TV. ESPN will broadcast Pistons games at Atlanta on Monday, January 19 (2:30 p.m. EST) and at Chicago on Friday, April 3 (8:00 p.m. EST). NBA TV will broadcast Detroit’s visit to Sacramento on Saturday, December 13 (10:00 p.m. EST). The club’s local television schedule on Fox Sports Detroit will be announced at a later date.
