Detroit Pistons To Hold "Pistons Academy" Cheerleading Camp On June 22

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons announced today that the club will hold a one-day “Pistons Academy” cheerleading camp on Saturday, June 22 at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Three-hour programs for girls and boys in junior high and high school cost $55 and include lessons from the Detroit Pistons Cheer Team, a 15-minute hip-hop dance session and one ticket to the Detroit Pistons 2013 home opener.

Following are times for each camp:

  • Junior High
    10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
    The Palace of Auburn Hills

  • High School
    3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
    The Palace of Auburn Hills

Ken Jimenez, entertainment manager for Palace Sports & Entertainment along with current members of The Detroit Pistons Cheer Team will lead each camp that focuses on drills and fundamentals, innovative transitional pyramid combinations and game-ready sideline routines.

“We are excited to host our second Pistons Academy cheerleading camp here at The Palace of Auburn Hills,” said Harlan Hendrickson, Vice President of Marketing for Palace Sports & Entertainment. “We host a large high school cheerleading competition during the season each year and we hope that youngsters cheering for their junior high or high school teams will take advantage of this opportunity to learn from the best and improve their skills.”

Participants are urged to register online by Friday, June 14. Walk-ups will be available on the day of the event and groups larger than 20 can take advantage of taking $5 off the registration price for each member.

Auditions for the 2013-14 Detroit Pistons Cheer Team will take place on Sunday, August 25 at the Cheerleading Training Center of Michigan in Shelby Township at 12 noon.
