Postgame Quotes - January 31, 2012

Pistons at Knicks

Detroit: Lawrence Frank | Tayshaun Prince
Knicks: Mike D'Antoni | Amar'e Stoudemire | Landry Fields

Pistons Head Coach Lawrence Frank

(On tonight’s game): "There is not a lot to say. You look at the first half, there were some encouraging signs. Fortunately you think about from a defensive standpoint, another half where teams shooting 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from the three. And yet, we’re lucky it was 12, but very easily, we had three turnovers off outlet passes that lead to eight points. This is, I think, the fifth game in a row where teams are shooting over 50% from three and 60% from the field. We don’t even give ourselves a chance that way. Between turnovers, the defense and miscues, not moving the ball, it just accumulative effect. Unfortunately, it’s dealing with some of the same issues we’ve had. When the game is still a six to eight point game and then the floodgates open and then we don’t get it back.”

Pistons Forward Tayshaun Prince

(On tonight’s game): “The Knicks moved the ball well tonight. They kept our defense moving. And, their main players made some shots. Whenever that happens, it’s always going to be a tough situation.”

Knicks Head Coach Mike D'Antoni

(On tonight’s game): "We made shots...that is the biggest thing. Landry (Fields) was phenomenal in the first quarter. A lot of that is Melo (Carmelo Anthony). You could see he was well…he looked good. We play a lot of him and he makes it easy for everybody else. We struggle with him out or hurt. We have to build off this…it is one game. Thursday we will find out…that is the next step.”

(On the team’s struggles): “Losing bothers you...offensively I was frustrated because I knew Melo (Carmelo Anthony) was hurt and we had no way around…being able to attack otherwise. When Baron Davis comes back it will help.”

(On Landry Fields): “The biggest thing was five steals. I thought his defense was very active. He is athletic. The bonus is when he is 4-for-6 from threes. Last year he was hitting those and I think he will again.”

Knicks Guard Landry Fields

(On tonight’s game): “We were moving the ball and it was just going into tonight. We wanted to make a statement going into the next three games and I think we did that.”

(On his play): “I think it is just a confidence thing and understand what this team needs to be more successful. It is a growing process and always will be. I am just going out there and playing and understanding where I can be most successful.”

(On the defense): “When we play good defense, like we did tonight, it turns into easy points on offense.”

Knicks Forward-Center Amar'e Stoudemire

(On tonight’s game): “We did a great job moving the ball tonight and the response was that we shot the ball well so if we keep that going we will be hard to guard.”

(More on tonight’s game): “We just really focused on what we had to do to win and we know the system works. We just have to keep playing the way we did tonight and we will be fine and defensively we played great. It was a big win for us and a tough week coming up with three games in a row but it is a great start.”
