Pistons vs Bobcats

Detroit: Lawrence Frank | Will Bynum | Jonas Jerebko
Charlotte: Steven Silas | Byron Mullens

Pistons Head Coach Lawrence Frank

(On the benches role tonight) – “The bench did great tonight, they had 38 points from the bench and in the biggest of moments, when we had to have it. Especially for Will Bynum, every time he came in he made some great plays. And then in the fourth he really turned it on, with great ball pressure, and then offensively his pick-and-roll tactic was phenomenal (and) obviously getting that huge three. Jonas (Jerebko) had some great plays as well. I though our bench was great tonight; I thought they really responded.”

(On what the best part of the night was) – “Well it’s kind of two fold if you look at it. It was really disappointing that we put ourselves in that position, it was the fact we put ourselves in jeopardy. Our pick-and-roll defense was total opposite from what it was last night. Tonight, I believe they had 54 or 56 points off of pick and rolls, that was disappointing. They showed the fight and especially since we have been on the flip side of those, where we have had some wins stolen from us, to come back and still maintain. To me it’s how we got those buckets. You think about the trust with Will on a dribble hand off to Tayshaun, then Tayshaun making the next play to Brandon, and then the trust from Tayshaun to Jonas to Will. I just like how we found those shots; that they weren’t forced shots, they were rhythm shots in pressure moments.”

Pistons Guard Will Bynum

(On the three in fourth quarter): “It was just a play they drew up. Tayshaun (Prince) to come off, Tayshaun made the extra pass to Jonas (Jerebko), Jonas make that extra pass to me. It’s trusting and believing; sharing the basketball.”

(On mindset after last night’s game): “It’s basketball. I’ve been playing basketball since I was five years old. You have ups and downs; it’s just a part of the game. It’s just playing through it and knowing your ability. I know what I can do and I have the utmost confidence in myself. I never lose that regardless of whatever happens.”

(On success against Charlotte): “I don’t think it really matters. I had an opportunity and it’s being in the right place at the right time and putting work in and those moments happen.”

Pistons Forward Jonas Jerebko

(On changes from beginning of season): “We’re trusting each other. I think that shows out on the court; somebody has an open shot, but maybe someone is more open. We’re getting there.

(On playing Charlotte): “You have to respect every team, it’s the NBA. There are professionals on every team and everybody can score the ball. We just came out with a win and played together and came out with some big stops and baskets.”

(On Will Bynum): “Will was great out there, dishing the ball out and finding the open man and taking it to the rack. He did a great job.”

Bobcats Assistant Head Coach Stephen Silas

(On team effort): "We were just trying to execute. It seemed like we’d run one play the first time and then it would work and then the second time it wouldn't work. I was proud of the guys for fighting. They fought and we had chances and we were going to the hoop, but we just couldn't get it done. I was really proud of the way they fought."

(On D.J. Augustin): "I'm always on D.J. for being aggressive and he was really aggressive tonight. I thought his pick-and-roll was good, but at times he over dribbled it a little bit, but that's just natural because he's trying to be aggressive so we'll take that sometimes if he's going to be aggressive."

(On Byron Mullens): "We wanted to go a little bit bigger since they were big at the four. I thought he was good and I thought Tyrus (Thomas) was good coming off the bench, especially in the first half so hopefully this is something to build on with our effort and maybe we'll sneak in a win."

Bobcats Forward Byron Mullens

(On game): "We knew this was going to be a tough game. Detroit is a very tough team. We knew it was going to come down to rebounding. (At) Halftime we were up by one and at the end of the game they won it. It was a hard fought game we just need to play like this here on out. There's something we can definitely learn from this game. We just have to play like that for the rest of the season."

(On the fourth quarter): "The first few minutes we were in a drought. We couldn't get the ball in the hoop. We weren’t really pushing it as fast as we were the first three quarters. I think we were stuck on 80 for a while and then they finally got it going, but it’s something we learn from. We slowed the ball down. We were up; we just got to keep our foot on the pedal."
