Detroit Pistons, Quicken Loans and Fathead Renovate Learning Center at Auburn Hills Boys and Girls Club

Rick Mahorn, John Long and John Mason Highlight Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Followed by Holiday Party and Basketball Skills Clinic

EVENT: The Detroit Pistons, Quicken Loans Inc. and Fathead LLC. have collaborated on the 27th Pistons Live, Learn and Play Center renovation at the Matilda R. Wilson Boys and Girls Club of Auburn Hills. The Home for the Holidays themed ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrates a newly renovated Learning Center and includes special appearances by Pistons legends Rick Mahorn, John Long, Pistons PA announcer John Mason (emcee), mascot Hooper, members of the Detroit Pistons dance team and Palace Patrol.

DETAILS: The newly renovated Learning Center includes: new furniture, computers courtesy of Quicken Loans Inc. and Fathead LLC., paint, Pistons bean bag chairs and Detroit Basketball graphics showcasing national Boys and Girls Club alumni. Additionally, the Club gymnasium will receive new backboard padding, Pistons world championship banners and Pistons basketballs.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony club members will receive lunch, enjoy a holiday party with Santa Claus and take part in holiday themed arts and crafts such as: holiday card and ornament creation, holiday cookie making and holiday gift wrapping. Simultaneously, year-round hoops director Aaron Smith will orchestrate an interactive basketball skills clinic in the gymnasium featuring a special performance by Pistons mascot Hooper and his trampoline dunk team, The Flight Crew.

This event concludes a year-long partnership between the Pistons and Boys & Girls Clubs in Michigan via the 2011 Pistons Care Telethon. The Pistons, along with their sponsors and fans raised more than $350,000 on March 18 in support of Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the state of Michigan. Net proceeds from the 2011 Pistons Care Telethon were distributed amongst Boys & Girls Club locations statewide and provided memberships and programming for thousands of Club members statewide.
