Pistons vs. Wizards
Postgame Quotes - October 24, 2007

Detroit: Flip Saunders | Flip Murray | Jarvis Hayes
Washington: Eddie Jordan | Caron Butler

Pistons Head Coach Flip Saunders
(On Rodney Stuckey): "Unfortunately we will have to wait and see what transpires tomorrow when we get a chance to really look at him, evaluate him, make decisions on what the time table is. It’s really disappointing, he was playing unbelievable today too. I said to our coaches during one of our time outs it looks like tonight like he really got it. He shot the ball when had open shots, he penetrated when he could penetrate, worked hard defensively and by far I thought it was his best stint as a point guard."

"He's in pretty good spirits, I mean you know he's disappointed. As I told him, you will bounce back and wait until tomorrow when we find out where everything's at.”

"People will have to step up. People are given opportunities and people have to step up and play, that's what this league is about. The league is about the guy's that you have and those guys taking advantage of opportunities and working well within the system."

(On overall assessment of training camp) "I was happy the way our young guys progressed and I'm extremely happy the way Jarvis has progressed in his role with what he's been able to do. I mentioned to one of our guys that I don't think that Rasheed has had a bad practice and he looks great right now. The biggest thing now is we that we need to practice on Friday and hopefully have Rip back and get these guys back on the same page and get ready for the battles that lie ahead."

Pistons Guard Flip Murray
(On team injuries) "I'll be ready every game regardless, even if I'm not in the rotation because things like this can happen any game, and I have to be ready to go in and play."

Pistons Forward Jarvis Hayes
(On his performance) "The opposing defense has to focus on so many guys on our offense that the open shot is going to be their and I just have to knock them down."

(On his performance) "From the first day of camp I've felt extremely comfortable. I'm not surprised at all that I'm playing well, but I can always be better. I mean, I missed five shots."

Wizards Head Coach Eddie Jordan
(On the game) “The Pistons are very good defensively, especially at their forwards, they swarm our forwards and that was key tonight. Caron (Butler) got off to a tough spot and Antawn (Jamison) shot a low percentage, which was the key. I think that their forwards really covered our guys tonight.”

(On Nick Young) “I wanted to get him a certain amount of minutes, like 20-25, which made me get him in early. This is the preseason and this is the time. Nick has made some headway and we wanted to see him with more minutes in this game tonight. We accomplished that and I think that he was OK, not great, but OK. He is understanding how to defend situations at the NBA level.”

Wizards Forward Caron Butler
(On the game) “The effort level was good, but they just made shots. Wallace, Hayes and all the key guys got in a nice rhythm and made shots.”

(On preseason thus far) “I think that we are doing a good job overall, we still have some guys that need to catch a rhythm and get into the flow of the offense, but overall we are doing a good job of getting everybody off and getting everybody touches and trying to find those sweet spots in time for the opener against Indiana on the 31st.”

(On starting the season) “The veteran guys are ready and we are prepared mentally and physically. The preseason is a great time to get your cardio ready and get a rhythm about yourself and I think that we have that rhythm and are ready for the next challenge.”
