Pistons vs. Jazz
Postgame Quotes - January 10, 2009

Detroit: Michael Curry | Allen Iverson | Rasheed Wallace
Utah: Jerry Sloan | Mehmet Okur

Pistons Head Coach Michael Curry
On the game
“From the beginning I didn’t think we had it but I thought we could just keep playing to find some combinations to give us a chance. I thought we had some good combinations with two minutes to go in the second quarter and (Jason) Maxiell missed a free throw but we got the offensive rebound and even though we had five turnovers in the first half we had three in the last two minutes and that kind of hurt us. Overall we just totally didn’t have it tonight.”

On not starting Rasheed Wallace
“Rasheed hadn’t practiced but just did some work. He went out and shot before the game but we had a game plan to go how we went. The last two games he really hasn’t been as focused and that’s what we have to work on with him and we know that. He does a great job for us when he is focused and we just have to make sure he’s focused.”

Pistons Guard Allen Iverson
On the game
“No excuses. It had nothing to do with being the last game of the trip. Dead legs, anything. They were just better than us and they whooped us tonight.”

On the road trip
“We can take a lot of positives out of it, but we can take a lot of negatives out as well. We did some good things, we did some bad things. We should have won the game in Portland. Obviously tonight we didn’t have a chance in this one from the beginning. We won two other games. We’ll leave the bad things right here and take the good things back to Detroit.”

Pistons Forward Rasheed Wallace
On the game
“I think we did some good things and some bad things. We got a couple eyes on the things that we did bad and try to make them good. It was a hard fought road trip. The guys were ready to play. Some games we came up short.”

On his game time decision to play
“For the last few games just seeing my team out there going through the trials that they were going through. I was saying it looks like I can help here or here, but maybe I should have waited until next week to come back.”

Jazz Head Coach Jerry Sloan
On the game
“I thought our guys did a terrific job passing the basketball and trying to execute our offense. We had a difficult time trying to contain them and keep them from getting shots on the basket in the first half. I thought we did a better job in the second half trying to help each other and trying to make a few stops. All of our guys played well.”

On Ronnie Price
“Ronnie Price played a terrific game. He hasn’t played in some time. He started the game off and got in foul trouble a little bit, but in the second half he was Ronnie. You’re not going to stop Allen Iverson. I think he played last night and had a tough game. We just had to make him work for everything he got.”

On Kosta Koufos in the paint
“He came off the bench and seemed like he was ready to play. He made some great catches in the ball game. He got some big rebounds and blocked a couple of shots.”

Jazz Center Mehmet Okur
On the game
“We knew they played last night and they had a tough game last night. We just come in at the beginning, we ran the floor and we were active on the glass. Nice game for us.”

On how he started the game (started 6-6 for 15 points)
“I was feeling good. My teammates did a good job creating open shots for me. I was able to mix up my game. I was able to post-up, step back (and) pull-up jump shots. I got to the free-throw line. So it felt good tonight.”
