Regular Season Game #3

Detroit: John Kuester | Charlie Villanueva | Will Bynum
Milwaukee: Scott Skiles | Brandon Jennings | Hakim Warrick

Pistons Head Coach John Kuester
(On tonight’s game…)
“We gave them life in the third period. One of the things that happened is I believe we had 12 assists at half and we ended with 17, so we only had five assists (in the second half). And the turnovers killed us. In the third quarter we turned the ball over three straight times and they (the Bucks) capitalized.”

(On the Pistons positives…)
“I was real pleased with what we did in the first half. The flow of the game, the rhythm of the game, and our guys were doing a great job defending. We held them to 41% (overall) so another positive is defensively we are doing things very well.”

(On what needs to change…)
“We’ve got to play 48 minutes. We’ve done a real nice job, as you all know, it’s 24 minutes of the first half that the rhythm is good but that third period, we’ve got to come out with a certain amount of energy that we had when we left the court and we haven’t done that the last two games.

Pistons Forward Charlie Villanueva
(On the Pistons poor start to the season…)
“Those third quarters. It seems like we have control of the game in the first half, it’s exactly what happened yesterday against Oklahoma. It just seems like the third quarter, I don’t know what it is, but it seems like a team makes a run and we can’t respond.”

(On the second half…)
“When teams go on a run, instead of us staying with what we were doing in the first half, it seems like we get away from that and lose a little bit of focus. We were moving the ball great in the first half and then in the second half it just didn’t happen.”

Pistons Guard Will Bynum
(On Brandon Jennings…)
“He’s a good player. If you let him get a little confidence, that how it works. You see the ball go in a few times and now he’s making them. My hat goes off to him.”

(On turning things around…)
“We know what we need to do. We need to share the ball more, we need to get out on the break and have fun. We had four fast break points. With all these athletes and all the speed on this team there is no way we can have four points. That has something to do with us, we have to look ourselves in the mirror and understand that.”

Bucks Head Coach Scott Skiles
(On the play of Brandon Jennings…)
“I thought he had a pretty good all around game. We had a really nice floor game again and he easily could have had 10 or 12 assists. Detroit’s guards gave us problems the last two games and kept us on our heels defensively. He came out in the third quarter and gave us a huge lift and, you know, got in the zone. It once again shows you a different element of his game.”

(On the Bucks bench…)
“The bench was good. Early on in both games we have kind of been sluggish out of the gate so we have to try to find something we can do about that. The whole second half I thought we had good intensity, played good defense, spread the ball out and played well.”

(On Andrew Bogut…)
“We were so guarded with him during the exhibition season, moderating his minutes. We have to give him a little time to really get his regular season legs under him. I thought he was better in the second half as well, he made a couple big plays.”

Bucks Guard Brandon Jennings
(On his third quarter performance…)
“We were working on cutting the lead down as much as possible, but it wasn’t just me. I thought everyone contributed well in the third quarter to go on a nice little run.”

(On the importance of winning at home…)
“You know me, I’m a competitor. If things are going well, I like to get the crowd going. Let’s get this place jumping this year, and that’s going to help us win basketball games like tonight. The fans were behind us and that got everybody going.”

(On his first two NBA games…)
“Pretty good. It’s a long season, though, and it’s early. Everybody has to contribute across the board.”

Bucks Forward Hakim Warrick
(On tonight’s game…)
“We tried to get out right away and get some transition points. We did a much better job in the second half pushing the tempo and I think that’s what got us over the top.”

(On match up problems…)
“You have to be able to spread the floor. When you got a guy like Andrew Bogut who can score in the post and a guy like Brandon (Jennings) who doesn’t need much room, it’s deadly.”

(On playing back-to-back games…)
“It’s a tough thing to do but at the same time it’s really important. I think that’s what makes Brandon’s performance even better. Not only is this his first two games but they happen to be back-to-back.”
