Pistons Guard Chauncey Billups

(On establishing Rasheed’s presence offensively)
In the second quarter, we wanted to punch it in to Sheed. We wanted to go to him every time if we could. And then he got on a little roll. Then we wanted to establish him again in the second half.
(On defending the Pacers)
It’s tough to prepare for them. They don’t really run a lot of set stuff. They’re doing a lot of pick and rolls, pick and pops, drive and kick for threes, especially without J.O. there is no real post up game to worry about.
(On Rasheed’s block on Diener)
The last two or three possessions of the game he was really aggressive on defense. On that play we were switching off on their three point shooters and I know I rotated out on Dunleavy and fortunately he got out there.”
Pistons Forward Rasheed Wallace

(On what changed in the second quarter)
Nothing really…just playing. Just taking advantage of the situation and what they were giving me. I like to get physical. I can play that style.
(On his block of Diener’s shot at the end)
I had a head start coming from the other side of the floor. That was my runway area. Anything more than that and he probably gets it over me.
(On recent struggles)
We’re just playing ball. We’ve run into some teams that are all geeked up to play us and that just lets us know that we’re still one of the top teams in this league.”
Pacers Head Coach Jim O’Brien

“They made some really big defensive stops and made some big shots down the stretch. They did what they had to do at the end of the game.
(On Rasheed Wallace)
He’s one of the premiere big men in the NBA and doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. I think he is one of the top three big men in the East. He is very difficult to defend.”
Pacers Forward Travis Diener

“Effort was there. They just made more plays down the stretch and Rasheed Wallace was a big difference. They all know what they are doing out there. They have been together for a while and have won a lot of games for a while. We are competing but not able to find ways to close things out and to pull up even when we are close. We knew that they would be back because they are a very good basketball team. Give them credit. They know what they are doing. They are a championship team.”
Pacers Forward Kareem Rush

“(On tonight’s stat sheet)
Nothing jumps out. We just lost. They have good players. They have experienced players and they know how to keep it going when they get it going. The effort that we put in tonight should be there every night and every game, not just sometimes. We are still a team in learning and we will continue to improve.”
