Capital Mortgage Funding Presents Detroit Pistons Playoffs

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons announced that Capital Mortgage Funding, a Southeast Michigan-based mortgage banking firm will be the presenting sponsor for the Detroit Pistons playoff run. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, however, the presenting playoff sponsorship deal is the first of its kind for the Detroit Pistons and in the NBA.
Tickets for the playoffs can be purchased in “strips” (all Pistons home games for the 2003 NBA Playoffs). Individual Detroit Pistons playoff tickets are scheduled to go on sale April 4, 2003 at 9:00 a.m.
“The people at Capital Mortgage Funding have been just terrific in their support of this organization,” said Dan Hauser, executive vice president of Palace Sports & Entertainment. “The fact that Harry (Glanz) and Dan (Burke) were willing to get on board as a presenting sponsor, even though something like this has never been done before, really shows how open they are to innovative ideas that make sense.”
“The Detroit Pistons Playoffs Presented by Capital Mortgage Funding, the Best Mortgage Banker” or variations on this phrase will be tagged for television, radio and print advertising for the playoffs. The tag line will also be featured on playoff tickets, promotional materials, minimal signage in the Palace Atrium, playoff press releases, playoff media guides and playoff game notes. No other NBA team in history has had a presenting sponsor for their playoff run.
“When the Pistons approached us with this ‘out-of-the-ordinary’ opportunity to be the presenting sponsor for their 2003 playoff run, it took us (along with partner Dan Burke) about five minutes to make the decision,” said Harry Glanz, executive vice president of Capital Mortgage Funding. “We are huge supporters of Detroit sports teams and particularly passionate about the Pistons. This season has been so exciting and we are extremely pleased to be involved in this ‘first-time-ever’ presenting sponsorship opportunity. We believe this relationship will have a long life, right into the 2003 NBA Finals.”
