Welcome to the Future Pistons Kids Club! It wasn’t that long ago that I was just your age and learning how to become a better basketball player. I played many other sports, too, and think all kids should try as many as you get the opportunity to play – in school, as part of a recreational league or just with your friends. The one thing I always loved about basketball is that you can play it all by yourself.

Whether it’s in a gym, on an outdoor court or even in your driveway, you can work to become a better basketball player. And while it’s important to put in that time, it helps if you have examples to follow to help you improve at shooting or ballhandling – those are things you really can do by yourself pretty much any time – or learn how to play better defense or to become a good teammate and a good sport.

Those are some of the many things we’ll talk about in our weekly Future Pistons Kids Club newsletters that you will receive by being a member. There are lots of other cool things you’ll get, too. We’ll have lots of videos that will give you an inside look at what it’s like to be a Detroit Pistons player or how to become a better player for your team.

There will be special ticket offers and discounts on all the neat stuff at The Palace Locker Room store. We’ll tell you about awesome experiences available only to Future Pistons Kid Club members, like meeting Hooper. You’ll be eligible for special offers and discounts from Meijer stores and for family shows at The Palace and DTE Energy Music Theatre. We’ll even send you a special birthday card!

I’m so happy that you have joined the Future Pistons Kids Club. We’re going to have a young and exciting team this year and we’re all excited for the season ahead. I hope you are, too, and I am looking forward to sharing our experiences with you. Welcome again!
