The Detroit Pistons announced today that its 2016-17 local television schedule will include 79 of the team’s regular-season games being televised by FOX Sports Detroit and FOX Sports Detroit Plus. Including three TNT broadcasts as part of the NBA’s national television schedule, all 82 of the club’s regular-season games will be available on television.
FOX Sports Detroit, beginning its 20th season of broadcasting Pistons games, is the exclusive local television provider for Detroit Basketball. The network will televise 79 regular-season games beginning on October 26 at Toronto. All Pistons games this season on FOX Sports Detroit and FOX Sports Plus will be televised in high-definition.
“We are excited to begin our 20th season of continued partnership with FOX Sports Detroit and pleased that 79 games will be broadcasted locally this season,” said Dennis Mannion, CEO of Palace Sports & Entertainment. “FOX Sports Detroit’s award winning broadcast production will once again deliver the most complete coverage of Detroit Basketball both on and off the court.”
Highlights of the regular-season broadcast schedule include four games against LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and the NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers (November 18, December 26, March 9 and March 14), four matchups against Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis and the new-look New York Knicks (November 1, November 16, March 11 and March 27) and four meetings featuring Dwyane Wade, Jimmy Butler and the Central Division rival Chicago Bulls (December 6, December 19, March 6 and March 22). FSD will also air one game featuring reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Michigan-native Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors (December 23), two meetings with Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers (November 7 and November 25) and two matchups against LaMarcus Aldridge, Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs (November 11 and February 10).
“Our commitment and passion for the Pistons is greater than ever,” said Greg Hammaren, senior vice president/general manager, FOX Sports Detroit. “Our EMMY-winning coverage of the Pistons is led by a pair of Michigan Sports Hall of Famers in George Blaha and Greg Kelser. Our announcers, reporters and production team are devoted to delivering Pistons fans some of the best coverage throughout the NBA.”
Twelve Pistons games will air on FOX Sports Plus, occurring on nights when coinciding Detroit Red Wings games are slated for broadcast on FOX Sports Detroit. FOX Sports Detroit and FOX Sports Plus channel numbers by video provider can be found at www.foxsportsdetroit.com.
Accompanying the telecasts is PISTONS LIVE, providing exclusive and extensive pre- and post-game coverage originating from the arena and the network’s high-definition studio. The popular “State of the Pistons” weekly feature program will continue to air each week on FOX Sports Detroit.
FOX Sports Detroit’s coverage of the Pistons is available to 3.2 million cable and satellite households throughout Michigan and portions of Northwest Ohio.
