Spencer has a lot going on right now. And he needs a space for it.
He needs a space to hang out with his friends, who come to his house in West Bloomfield to watch Red Wings games on TV and hold PlayStation 3 tournaments.
He needs a space to show off the prized autographed sports memorabilia that he's collected. (And the hockey medals and trophies Spencer and his two older brothers have won.)
He needs a space to blast rap music and play mini-hockey with his friends and brothers without having his mother, Barbara, tell him to turn down the volume or cut out the roughhousing.
And he needs a space to watch movies with Grandma Stella, who is battling breast cancer. He's helping her with her fight. And she's helping Spencer with his.
Spencer has a brain tumor. When asked by the Make-A-Wish Foundation what he'd like his wish to be, the 12-year-old said he wanted a "man cave."
Spencer's man cave will be one of the wishes granted with the donations raised by the Pistons Cares Telethon. Spencer is pretty pumped to be a part of it. No surprise here, but he is a huge Pistons fan and has been to a lot of games at The Palace. He even saw one game in "Tay's Town," the suite purchased by Tayshaun Prince and donated to the "Kids Kicking Cancer" support group at Children's Hospital of Michigan.
Hopefully it won't be long before he's watching games at "Spencer's Space."
