Second Monthly Charitable Game to Support Team Selfridge Relief Fund
Detroit Pistons to Honor All Branches of our Armed Services on Veterans Day with "Military Salute Night" on November 11

The Detroit Pistons will host “Military Salute Night” to salute those who have served, or are still serving in all branches of the United States Armed Services during the team’s Veterans Day contest vs. the Charlotte Bobcats on November 11 at 7:30 p.m. Through a special ticket promotion, game-night auction and the delivery of a truck-load of food from its Pistons Care Telethon, the game will support the Team Selfridge Family Relief Fund.

For this special night, current members and veterans of the armed services will receive complimentary tickets to the game. Family and friends, and any fans interested in supporting the cause, will be given the opportunity to purchase specially priced upper level tickets for just $11 or specially priced lower level tickets for $40. To register to attend the event, and to order the specially priced tickets, participants can visit Pistons.com or call The Palace Box Office at (248) 377-0100.

The Team Selfridge Family Relief Fund is a non-profit program at Selfridge ANG Base that provides financial relief for all military members and their families.

Special tributes throughout the game will honor our men and women for their loyal service to our country. Pregame, children of military members will serve as Pistons honorary captains and a unified military contingent will display a giant flag on the basketball court during the National Anthem. During the game, a special Michigan Hero representing all major conflicts will be honored and special tributes will be aired on the PalaceVision video screens including messages from service personnel overseas. Halftime will be highlighted by a swearing-in ceremony for new Air Force service personnel while the entire court is encircled by hundreds of Selfridge reserves.

Information on Team Selfridge Family Relief Fund and other military programs will be available at special areas on The Palace’s concourse. Also on the concourse will be special auction areas with proceeds supporting Team Selfridge.

“For the second of this season’s monthly community outreach nights, I can’t think of a more significant group to honor than the men and women of our military, whether they are veterans or if they are still serving our country,” said Tom Wilson, president and CEO of the Detroit Pistons. “We literally would not be here to host this event if it were not for the sacrifices made by the members of our Armed Services and for this we owe them a great debt of thanks.”

As a precursor to the event, a truck-load of food from Feed The Children, funded by the Pistons Care Telethon, will be delivered to the Food Pantry at Selfridge on November 10 to provide relief to military members and their families.

National City Corporation, now a part of PNC, one of the nation’s largest financial holding companies, is the presenting sponsor for the Detroit Pistons. For more information about National City, please visit www.nationalcity.com.
