Pistons Recognize Breast Cancer Survivors

AUBURN HILLS, MI – The 2005 NBA Eastern Conference Champion Detroit Pistons honored three breast cancer survivors at halftime of their preseason home finale against the Miami Heat at The Palace on Saturday, October 22. As a culmination of breast health awareness month, Jason Maxiell met with Corky Banda from Southfield, Janice Crawford from Grand Blanc and Claudia Killeen from Northville, all Breast Cancer Survivors from Beaumont’s Comprehensive Breast Care Centers and recognize their accomplishment in front of The Palace crowd.

The Detroit Pistons partnered with WB20, Detroit’s WB, to introduce a new initiative to benefit Beaumont Hospital’s Comprehensive Breast Care Centers. Fans can purchase Detroit Pistons and Detroit Shock Pink Hats during all Pistons preseason home games in the month of October, Breast Health Awareness Month, at stands located in The Palace atrium and concourse. The hats will also be available at home games in November, online at www.pistons.com and all Palace Locker Room Store locations for the entire 2005-06 regular season, or while supplies last. They are available in both baseball cap and winter hat styles for a donation of $15, with all proceeds going to benefit breast cancer research at Beaumont’s Comprehensive Breast Care Centers.
