Pistons Collect Over 10,000 Books
The Pistons and Starbucks collected over 10,000 children’s books in March, shattering the goal of 2,000 books. Hundreds of families donated books which will be given to the Detroit PAL St. James Activity Center in Detroit, and to children in Detroit, Avondale, Pontiac and Flint school districts, and metro-Detroit literacy centers.

    Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss
    Pistons players don Cat In The Hat hats and host a birthday party for Dr. Seuss with 300 elementary students at Potter Elementary School in Flint March 12th.

    Pistons & Starbucks Join Forces
    The Pistons and the Starbucks Coffee Company team up to collect new and gently used books during the month of March. Those who donate a book get one buy-one-get-one-free voucher to any regular season home game and a free 16 oz. Starbucks beverage.

    Pistons Celebrate Black History Month
    The Palace of Auburn Hills Atrium was transformed into a movie theatre Tuesday, February 19th when Damon Jones and Rodney White, Deanna Nolan of the Detroit Shock, and Pistons Mascot Hooper were joined by members of the All Star Reading Team in reading to 150 second through fifth grade students from Owen Elementary School in Pontiac.

    All-Star Readers Visit Detroit Historical Museum
    The Detroit Pistons' All Star Reading Team celebrates Black History Month with 100 elementary students from The Detroit Public Schools at the Detroit Historical Museum February 4th.

    The Pistons continued to spread the joy and importance of reading January 16th with a Read to Achieve Reading Timeout visit to students at R. Grant Graham School in Auburn Hills.

    Harry Potter Mania Hits
    The Detroit Pistons, the Detroit Shock’s Head Coach Greg Williams and guard Edwina Brown, and Star Theatre treated 300 metro Detroit school children to a holiday reading party and special screening of Harry Potter and Sorcerer’s Stone December 11th

    Pistons Promote Read to Achieve
    The Detroit Pistons promote the importance of reading and education to Metro Detroit youth by launching the Read to Achieve community literacy project.

    Aretha Franklin, NBA Hall of Famer Bob Lanier, Lieutenant Governor Dick Posthumus, and Attorney General Jennifer Granholm join the Detroit Pistons to launch the Read To Achieve community literacy project at The Palace on October 24th.
