A Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, Mark Tyndale, the son of Leroy Tyndale and Jennifer Gregg, spent much of his career playing in the city of brotherly love before embarking on his professional journey.

Born on January 4, 1986, Tyndale transferred from Philadelphia’s Frankford to nearby Simon Gratz high school. It was there that he learned the work ethic that would drive his professional career.

Following a standout career that culminated at Gratz, Tyndale was heavily recruited but opted to stay close to home, playing at Philadelphia’s Temple University.

A four-year contributor at Temple, Tyndale parlayed collegiate success into national attention, receiving an invitation to the 2008 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament where he played in front of professional basketball’s top scouts.

Following an impressive showing at Portsmouth, Tyndale worked out for the New Orleans Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings prior to the 2008 NBA Draft, but went unselected in June’s event.

A hot young prospect, Tyndale played for the Houston Rockets during the 2008 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, before initially opting to play overseas during the 2008-09 season in Australia.

Tyndale’s career overseas was short-lived, though, playing only 10 games for Australia’s Adelaide 36ers before joining the NBA Development League’s Iowa Energy in March, 2009. An instant fan favorite in Des Moines, Tyndale worked to prove his game belonged at the highest level: the NBA.

After a successful half-season in Iowa, Tyndale earned an invitation to the 2009 Milwaukee Bucks training camp. One of the final players cut from Milwaukee’s camp, Tyndale returned to Iowa to play for the 2009-10 season, where he contributed to an Energy team that was the most successful in NBA D-League history, winning an all-time high 37 games and advancing to the league’s semi-finals before falling to the Tulsa 66ers in three games. While with Iowa, Tyndale played alongside Phoenix Suns assigned players Alondo Tucker, Taylor Griffin and Earl Clark.

Coming off of his successful season in Iowa, Tyndale was asked to play with the NBA D-League Select team at the 2010 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, where he finished the event in style, sinking a buzzer-beating long range three-pointer to secure a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
