Frahm stayed close to home for his college ball, playing four years at Washington’s Gonzaga University where he finished his collegiate career as Gonzaga’s leader in career three-point field goals with 280 shots made from behind the arc, also ranking fourth all-time in West Coast Conference history. When the buzzer sounded after his last game at Gonzaga, Frahm’s 1,621 career points ranked fourth all-time in school history.
Following an impressive college career, Frahm earned an invitation to the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, to play in front of professional scouts and coaches.
For the first few years of his professional career, Frahm bounced between domestic minor leagues and overseas teams, including stints with Italy’s Olimpia Milano and Turkey’s Darussafaka Istanbul. During the summers, Frahm played with the Miami Heat in July, 2002’s Southern California Summer Pro League in Long Beach, and NBA training camps.
In the fall of 2003, Frahm broke into the NBA, playing 54 games with the Seattle SuperSonics. During the 2004-05 season, he played 43 games for the Portland Trail Blazers, returning to his native Oregon for the 2005-06 season before moving to the Minnesota Timberwolves (25 games) and then Houston Rockets, where he played eight games.
During the 2006-07 season, Frahm returned to Italy to play for Benetton Treviso but suffered an injury that sidelined him. For the 2007-08 season, Frahm returned to the NBA, playing first for the Phoenix Suns during the preseason and then in 10 games for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Frahm found his way to the NBA D-League during the 2008-09 season, when he joined the Reno Bighorns. Frahm played a second season for the Bighorns during the 2009-10 campaign, when the team reached the NBA D-League postseason for the first time in franchise history.
