Pelicans-Mavericks Postgame Quotes 12-26-16

Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry:

On the team’s play:
“I thought we started the game the right way. I thought we had a lot of energy. Defensively we were into the ball. We did a lot of good things. Most of the run-outs we had were on defensive stops. Then I thought in the second quarter we kind of went away from that. We’ve got to do a better job of being consistent and trying to play that way for 48 minutes.”

On the starting lineup:
“I think the energy level they had was great. Matter of fact, Langston instead of Buddy, but that was the same group to end the game also and I thought they did a good job of coming back in and re-establishing what they did in the first half, specifically the first quarter.”

On the team winning three of the last four games:
“I think we beat the Dallas Mavericks tonight and we play the Clippers on Wednesday. I think our next game is the most important game and it doesn’t really matter what’s happened in the past, it really doesn’t. If you want to say momentum then fine, but the only game that really matters is the next game.”

Pelicans Forward/Center Anthony Davis:

On starting at center tonight:
“Yeah, I liked starting at the five. It allowed us to switch on everything and have a more versatile defense. It let us do a lot of things differently on the offensive and defensive side of the basketball. If coach needs me at the five, I’ll play whatever I need to. It’s up to coach and it’s just going to go game by game.”

On getting offensive help from the guards:
“It opens up the floor for everyone when they can shoot that well. We set them screens to get them open, and we are able to drive and kick it out to the open shooter. So we just try and feed off of each other and stay within the game plan.”

Pelicans Guard Langston Galloway:

On Langston Galloway:

On his hot shooting night:
“When I’m able to get an open look and knock down that first one, it gives me confidence. My teammates have a lot of confidence in me and I have it in my shot and I was just knocking down my shots tonight.”

On the team’s recent success:
“It all starts on the defensive end. When we play good defense it can help us even if we’re not having the best night on offense. When we’re able to come off the bench and give this team a lift, it definitely is a big confidence builder and has helped us in these past few games.”
