What the Raptors had to say about 107-100 win over the Pelicans (3/19/14)

Raptors Coach Dwane Casey
On the road win
“After the first quarter, we just picked up the intensity coming off of a back-to-back. I didn’t recognize the team in the first quarter that gave up 80% from the field. I told them they looked like they were playing in a rec league in the summertime. We picked it up and guys came in; I think Amir (Johnson) had one rebound in the first half, and then came back and had eight with one big one. Tyler (Hansbrough) had thirteen boards. This game was about mental and physical toughness, more so than skill. No matter who you are playing, you have to bring that each and every night, and I thought our guys did.”

On the offensive execution in the 4th quarter
“I thought our defense led to our offensive rhythm. When you’re not getting stops, it’s hard to get a rhythm offensively. Our defense dictated our offense. These last 16 or 17 games are going to be about mental and physical toughness as much as anything else.”

Raptors Forward Amir Johnson
On coming back after the rough start
"It was all effort. They came out running. They knew we came on a back-to-back and they just came out gunning. As soon as we stepped it up and played hard defense, that’s when we got the lead."

On the Raptors' fourth quarter
"There's no quit in this team even with all the injuries. Guys stepped up; Nando (De Colo), he definitely stepped up and gave us some good minutes. Everybody off the bench really stepped up and there was no quit. We kept fighting, we played hard defense, we set hard screens; we did everything hard and that's what got us the win."

Raptors guard Kyle Lowry
On where the team finds its resiliency
"It's just toughness. We've got resilient guys in here; we've got professional guys who all they want to do is win games. We're all in the situation now where some guys haven't been to the playoffs like me and Chuck (Hayes), and then you've got guys who've never been to the playoffs like DeMar (DeRozan) and the young guys. We're in a situation where we want to keep pushing it and keep grinding to make our team better."
