What the New Orleans Pelicans had to say about 111-107 OT win over the Nuggets (3/9/14)

Pelicans Head Coach Monty Williams
On tonight’s game

“I thought our defense in the second half and in regulation was as good as it’s been all year. Defensively tonight the way that Austin (Rivers) guarded (Ty) Lawson tonight was special. He had one blip tonight when he fouled the three point shooter. And AD (Anthony Davis) going for 32 (points), 17 (rebounds) and 6 (blocks)…that’s just special. We had a lot of contributions from everyone and (Anthony) Morrow continues to hit big shots. We don’t like the 24 turnovers but they had 27, so I guess that was a push.”

On a sense of confidence in overtime

“Well since were at home, probably, we felt a little better. But we played well tonight in OT, especially on the defensive side of the ball. It wasn’t perfect, but the guys have confidence in each other.”

On Anthony Morrow

“He’s like Mountain Dew times 10…he’s always going. It’s something we need on our team. He is always positive and is not afraid to get on guys when that’s needed. When we’re down, he’s the guy on the bench that keeps guys going.”

Pelicans Forward Anthony Davis
On the win
“We worked hard. We love games like this. I told Tyreke (Evans) to stay with it. Stay on the gas. We locked down defensively in the third and fourth quarters. That’s what we have to do: play our defense, rebound the ball, and get to the rim. Anthony Morrow made big shots, big rebounds, and big plays. That’s what we need to win as a team.”

On the play of Tyreke Evans as a starter
“He brings a lot. He’s such a great player. In my mind, he’s an all-star with the way he’s able to make big plays and attack the basket and make tough layups. He finds guys and is unbelievable. His being in the starting lineup is huge for us. Hopefully we will get a few more wins in this home stand.”

Pelicans Guard Anthony Morrow
On the overtime win
“It’s a big win and boy, I’m tired! It feels great. We needed that one, though. We’re finding what it takes to win in certain situations. It’s hard work from everybody from top to bottom.”

On the big shot at the end of regulation
“I missed a couple of easy ones earlier in the game. When I got back in, I knew I was due for hitting some shots. We were trying to make a play. I work hard every day and I thank God for that. I drove hard to get to that spot I wanted to be in. I knew Ty (Lawson) was a little bit shorter, so I wanted to shoot over him and I was able to get my shot off.”
