What the Minnesota Timberwolves had to say about 98-91 loss to the Pelicans (2/7/14)

Wolves Coach Rick Adelman
On if the problem in the fourth quarter was primarily the offense

“No, it was the defense too. We came out in the fourth quarter and we didn’t play together at either end. They got some momentum going and I just thought our decision making offensively wasn’t very good. I don’t think we played well together, everyone was trying to do it for themselves. We were 10 up, they cut it to five and we go back up nine and then they came flying back at us. We have to find a way to trust each other better than that.”

On Kevin Love’s effort

“He had great effort tonight. This has happened to us a number of times where we go into that fourth quarter and can’t hold the lead.”

On what he saw from the Pelicans tonight

“They played very well. They were aggressive in the fourth quarter and they shot the ball a lot better.”

Wolves guard Ricky Rubio
On the Pelicans fourth quarter run

“It was tough, they played very well. They scored 30 plus points in the fourth quarter and when you give up that many points on the road it makes it very hard to win. At the end we tried to force some shots but they just wouldn’t go.”

On the Timberwolves defense

“In the fourth quarter we just didn’t get the job done. We have to learn how to play aggressive all the way through the game. We have to learn how to play with a lead. We were up by 10 in the third quarter, we should be able to finish strong.”
