What the Golden State Warriors had to say about 102-101 win over the Pelicans (11/26/13)

Warriors Coach Mark Jackson On the play of the Pelicans in the second half “They got it going offensively in the third quarter, and they have weapons all around the floor and they had some good looks. It’s a well-coached team but we came through with some timely plays late in the game to come away with the victory.”

On Jermaine O’Neal’s play “That’s why we went and got him. He plays similar defense as (Andrew) Bogut. He anchors our defense and is a presence in the post. He came ready to score. We missed Bogut but Jermaine (O’Neal) did an outstanding job at carrying us at times.”

Warriors Center Jermaine O’Neal On tonight’s game “As long as I’ve been in the league I know tonight’s game has nothing to do what we did in other games. You have to go out and give it your best night in and night out.”

On closing out games “Tonight Coach said that he has confidence in me and set up a play for me. This team has a bunch of guys in this locker room that has great character, and that what you need in this league.”

Warriors Guard Klay Thompson On Eric Gordon’s last shot “He had a great look at the rim. It just didn’t fall for him tonight.”

On tonight’s win “All the games are big wins. (Being) 9-6 is better than (being) 8-7. It may be only November, but these are the wins you need throughout the season. You never know what will happen down the road, but in March and April you need these wins.”
