Other 2015-16 games between these two teams

Why it’s on the list

It’s the Pelicans’ home opener. It’s a rematch from the 2015 Western Conference playoffs, which will be partly remembered for an epic – though ultimately bitter from a Pelicans perspective – Game 3 overtime clash in the Crescent City. It’s Alvin Gentry vs. the team he helped win a championship last season, as an assistant under first-year head coach Steve Kerr. It’s two teams that will likely play a fast-paced, highly-entertaining brand of basketball in 2015-16. There is no shortage of reasons behind why opening the home schedule on Halloween should be a loud, memorable experience for fans in the Smoothie King Center.

What’s new in Golden State

As is the case with most teams that win an NBA title, the Warriors didn’t try to reinvent the wheel this summer, opting to make minimal changes. The biggest departure is veteran forward David Lee, who was traded to Boston. Replacing him on the roster will be Jason Thompson, who changed Northern California addresses from Sacramento to Oakland. On the sideline, Luke Walton takes over for Gentry as Kerr’s lead assistant.
