SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, AUGUST 18
August 8, 2012
The New Orleans Hornets will hold auditions for the 2012-13 Stingers Junior Dance Team on Saturday, Aug. 18 at the New Orleans Arena. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and auditions begin promptly at 11 a.m. The Hornets are looking for boys and girls between the ages of 7-12 who are energetic, have previous dance experience and want to be a part of the exciting hip-hop team that performs at select home games.
“We always have a squad of talented dancers, and they have the opportunity to perform at games and other Hornets events and interact with our fans. It’s a fun experience and a great opportunity for these kids to learn teamwork and develop their dance skills at the same time,” said Stingers choreographer Ashley Deaton.
The Stingers perform choreographed hip-hop dance routines at select Hornets home games as well as perform at community appearances throughout the season. Stinger applicants should bring personality, energy, showmanship and confidence to the auditions.
Parents must complete a Stingers application form, submit a recent headshot or photo of their child and bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate. Release forms must be signed by a parent at registration. While there are no specific guidelines for attire, Stinger applicants should be dressed in comfortable athletic gear. Only one parent/guardian per child will be permitted to stay for the audition.
Application forms, details on the audition process and audition tips are available at Hornets.com.
