Pelicans Sign Fredette and Young

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that the team has signed guard Jimmer Fredette and center Patric Young. Per team policy, terms of the contracts were not released.

Fredette (6-2, 195) holds career averages of 6.9 points, 1.9 assists, 41.7 percent field goal shooting and 40.1 percent three-point shooting in 14.6 minutes per game over three seasons with Sacramento and Chicago.

In 2013-14, the BYU product appeared in 49 combined games for Sacramento and Chicago and averaged 5.6 points per game, while shooting a career-high 41.7 field goal percentage and 40.9 three-point percentage.

Young, an undrafted free agent in the 2014 NBA Draft, appeared in 150 contests over four seasons for the University of Florida and averaged 8.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game in 24.3 minutes.

The former Gator (6-9, 240) helped guide Florida to three SEC Championships during his four-year tenure and an appearance in the Final Four in his senior season. He never missed a contest over four years and became only the second Florida player to appear in 150 games. With a career field goal percentage of 57.7% and 160 total blocks, Young is on the top-ten career list in both categories at Florida.

A member of the New Orleans Pelicans 2014 Summer League team, Young appeared in all five of the team’s contests in the Samsung NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and posted averages of 7.4 points and 8.0 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per game.
