
PAUL NAMED TO 2010-11 NBA ALL DEFENSIVE SECOND TEAM
Becomes first Hornet to earn post-season defensive honors three times

The NBA announced today that New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul was selected to the All-Defensive Second Team.
It marks the third time in Paul’s career that he has earned All-Defensive honors. Paul was the first Hornet in franchise history to make first team honors in 2008-09, and was a second team selection in 2007-08. Paul becomes the first Hornet in franchise history to earn All-Defensive honors on three occasions (Eddie Jones – twice, 1998-99 - second team, 1999-00 - second-team).
Paul led the NBA in steals per game (2.4) this season and has done so in three of the last four years. He also had an NBA-best 188 steals on the season. Paul has led the NBA in total steals in four of his six seasons.
Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, winner of the last three Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Awards, headlines the NBA All-Defensive First Team. Also selected to the All-Defensive First Team are guard Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics, forward LeBron James of the Miami Heat, forward Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics, and guard Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers. .
Joining Paul on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team, are Tony Allen of the Memphis Grizzlies, center Tyson Chandler of the Dallas Mavericks, forward Andre Iguodala of the Philadelphia 76ers, and forward-center Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls.
The voting panel consisted of the NBA’s 30 head coaches, who were asked to select NBA All-Defensive First and Second Teams by position. Coaches were not permitted to vote for players from their own team. Two points were awarded for a First Team vote and one point was awarded for a Second Team vote.
