NBA Superlatives: Pelicans forward Luke Babbitt

It’s been an eventful past two years in basketball for New Orleans combo forward Luke Babbitt, who spent the early portion of 2013-14 playing in Russia, before the Pelicans signed him at midseason. Babbitt jumped right into the mix for his second NBA team, including starting twice. Now in his fifth season in the league, the smooth-shooting southpaw (career 38 percent three-point accuracy) was drafted in the first round by Portland in 2010. He joined Pelicans.com to discuss his pro career recently:

Most memorable moment in the NBA: “Going to the playoffs with Portland during my rookie year in the league.”

Most memorable dunk in the NBA: “I had one against the Raptors a couple years ago on Ed Davis.”

Most embarrassing moment in the NBA: “I’ve been dunked on a few times. That’s never fun.”

Most surprising thing about the NBA as a rookie: “The grind of the schedule.”

Toughest player to face at his position: “Kevin Durant.”

Most underrated player in the NBA: “Jrue Holiday.”

Best uniforms in the NBA (besides the Pelicans’): “I do like the Pelicans’ a lot. I’ll go with Cleveland.”

Favorite road arena: “Madison Square Garden.”

Favorite road trip, based on the city: “I like Indianapolis, because I have a lot of family around there.”
