HORNETS TO PARTICIPATE IN 2012 NBA DRAFT LOTTERY
Drawing to be held on Wednesday, May 30

May 22, 2012

The New Orleans Hornets will participate in the 2012 NBA Draft Lottery on Wednesday, May 30 to determine where they will pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. The event will be televised on ESPN beginning at 7 p.m. CDT from Disney/ABC’s Times Square Studios in New York City.

Headed into the Lottery, the Hornets hold both their own selection (slotted fourth) and the Timberwolves’ selection (slotted tenth, acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers on Dec. 14, 2011). With the combined chances of the two picks, New Orleans has a 14.8% chance (148 of 1,000 possibilities) at landing the first selection, a 15.46% chance at drafting second and a 16.04% chance at third. The Hornets have never held two Lottery selections in the same draft in franchise history.

Following the conclusion of the Lottery, General Manager Dell Demps will be available to media via conference call from New York. Further details regarding the conference call will be sent at a later date.

The NBA Draft will be held on Thursday, June 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. and broadcast by ESPN at 6 p.m. CDT.
