Hornets to Open Season Against Chicago

The New Orleans Hornets will open the 2011-12 regular season at home on Wednesday, Nov. 2, when they take on the Chicago Bulls. The Hornets first road game comes on Saturday, Nov. 5, when they take on the Sacramento Kings.

The Hornets play five of their first eight games at home to open the season, including a tilt against the Eastern Conference Champion Miami HEAT on Wednesday, Nov. 9 before embarking on a five-game road swing.

Other highlighted games throughout the season include two home games against the NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, Dec. 21 and Saturday, Jan. 21, the lone home match-up against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, Dec. 28 and the final home game of the regular season against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, Apr. 15.

Season tickets are available by calling (504) 525-HOOP or by logging on to Hornets.com. The team’s preseason schedule, on-sale dates for individual game tickets for both preseason and regular season games and the Hornets’ local television schedule will be released at a later date.

The Hornets will play 18 of their 41 home games on Friday (11), Saturday (5) or Sunday (2) night. Their most frequent game night will be Wednesday (16).

All home games will tip off at 7:00 p.m. with the following exceptions: Monday, Jan. 16 vs. Milwaukee; Sunday, Jan. 29 vs. Atlanta; Sunday, Apr. 15 vs. Memphis. The Bucks game will tip off at 2:00 p.m., while the Hawks and Grizzlies games will tip off at 6:00 p.m.

The Hornets’ longest road trip will be two five-game swing taking place Nov. 19-27 and Feb. 15-28, while the longest home stand is five games taking place at the end of the regular season, Apr. 7-15.

The Hornets will appear on national television twice (both road games) during the season. New Orleans will battle the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday, Nov. 24 (Thanksgiving night) on TNT and their other nationally televised game is a tilt in New York against the Knicks on Friday, Feb. 17 on ESPN. In addition, the Hornets appear on NBATV six times. Two NBATV highlighted games are a home match against the World Champion Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, Jan. 21 and a home game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, Apr. 9.

The Hornets will play Southwest Division rivals (Dallas, Houston, Memphis and San Antonio) four times each (twice at home/twice on the road). The same holds true for Pacific and Northwest Division teams, with the exception of Phoenix (one home game on Dec. 30), Portland (one home game on Feb. 10), L.A.
